Two Wyoming men arrested

September 16, 2021

TEN SLEEP — Two adult men, one from Sheridan and one from Story, were arrested in the early morning hours of Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2021, near Meadowlark Lake east of Ten Sleep. Names have not been released.

According to Washakie County Steve Rakness the arrest stemmed from an altercation in the Baby Wagon Area. He said a deputy responded to the altercation. He said while shots were fired no one was injured.

Details on the altercation were not released at this time.

According to the daily call log for Washakie County law enforcement, an officer originated a service call of shots fired at 7:44 p.m.

Because a deputy did fire his weapon, Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation was called in to investigate, Rakness said.

Rakness said the two men fled in the deputy’s vehicle. It was later found totaled. He said he could not release any further information regarding that portion of the incident.

Law enforcement from Washakie, Hot Springs, Big Horn and Johnson counties assisted, along with Forest Service and Wyoming Highway Patrol.

U.S. Highway 16 was closed from about 10 p.m. Tuesday until 2:30 a.m. Wednesday as law enforcement searched for the suspects.

As the DCI agents arrived they located the two men walking along U.S. Highway 16. They were arrested without incident, Rakness said.

Since the investigation is still ongoing no further details were released.

An official press release was expected later on Wednesday or on Thursday.
