Born on one of the most romantic days of the year February 14, 1953, Jesus Charles was born to Antonio and Margarita Charles in Texas. His family started their journey from Texas to Worland where Jesse attended school with his many siblings. Jesse's family worked the surround fields as migrant workers teaching their children the meaning of hard work. Around the age of 16, Jesse's family moved to Billings, Montana where Jesse completed his teenage years. In 1970, Jesse enlisted in the United States Army as a Military Police Officer where he was stationed in Vietnam and Germany.

Two years passed quickly where upon his return, the love of his life caught his eye and the two were married. Jesse married Judith Mittelstadt on August 12, 1972 in Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Billings, Montana. So began their journey of love and family. In the following year, Jesse worked in underground construction around the Billings area.

In 1974, Jesse and Judi moved to Sheridan, Wyoming when he was hired to work with Montana-Dakota Utilities (MDU) Power Plant. During this time, the joy of fatherhood took hold and two daughters joined the family. In 1976, Jesse was transferred to the Worland MDU station where he worked as a welder. He raised his family in Basin,

Wyoming for the next 18 years. Jesse felt that he had more to give with his life, so he joined the Basin Police Department part-time to help serve and protect the community his family lived in.

After his daughters graduated, Jesse and Judi moved to Worland in 1994 and then transferred to Sheridan Bitter Creek (a subsidiary of Williston Basin Pipeline) in 2001.

Here they enjoyed being close to family and growing their love for each other. The town of Worland was calling Jesse back in 2005, so he returned to Williston Basin as a construction supervisor until his retirement in 2007. Finding retirement to be slow, Jesse found the fast lane of school crossing guard to fill his serve and protect nature.

Crossing guard duty allowed for creativity in Jesse's life. He brought laughter, joy, and kindness to the students every morning in various outfits. It was hard to not smile when people saw Jesse as Santa, Worland Warrior, or Sully from Monsters Inc. Jesse had a goal to make others happy and find delight in a 'Good Morning' wave. In addition to the crossing guard, Jesse enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing horseshoes, walking/biking with his bride of 49 years, or creating birdhouses. No matter what was being talked about when Jesse was around, he would always share the love of his grand and great-grandchildren.

Jesus "Jesse" Charles passed away on October 11, 2021 from complications of pneumonia. He is proceeded in death by his father, Antonio; his mother, Margarita; and brothers Rudolpho and Santos. He is survived by his better half and love of his life for 49 years, Judi; his daughters Jennifer (James) and Jolene (Richard). Grandchildren Derrick (Janene), Johnathan, Nikita, Danner (Hannah), Garrett (Niki), Jarod, and Kimberly. Great grandchildren Karen, Dominic, Knox, Quade, and newest addition Murphy. Here is where the legacy of Jesse will continue, into the future, caring for others. Also survived by his sisters: Virginia (Britt), Frances (Ernie), Josie (Roy), Gloria (Jose), Margie (Terry), and Pat; brothers: Tony (Cheryl), Robert, Benito, Chris (Jose), and Tom (Wendy); and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will be missed not only by his family but the friends and community he loved. We will remember you always Honey/Daddy/Papa.

The family will hold a memorial service in the summer to allow for people to celebrate in the outdoors in which Jesse loved. Cremation has taken place at the Antelope Butte Crematory in Greybull. Arrangements have been entrusted to Veile Mortuary.
