Martha Isabel Chavez

Martha Isabel Chavez, 64, of Worland, Wyoming, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on June 20, 2024.

Martha was born on August 30, 1959, in Rio Bravo, Tamaulipas, Mexico to Rutilo Sr. and Natividad Chavez. She was one of six siblings. In 1976, Martha married Saul Martinez. To this union, three children were born: Jesus, Saul Jr., and Perla. While raising their three children, Martha and Saul worked in the migrant fields in various states, and often their children would be working right alongside them. Martha's grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy. She loved spending time with all of them, creating long lasting memories. Whether it be baking, coloring, or sharing her cooking traditions, you could always find Martha with a smile on her face and laughter in her heart. In addition, no one ever went hungry when Martha was around. She was fondly known around Worland as the Tamale Lady.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Elena Alegria, and brother Rutilo Chavez Jr.

She is survived by her sisters, Juana (Eliazar) Gutierrez, Maria Antonia (Jesus) Martinez, Rosa Nacianceno; sons, Jesus (Stacy), and Saul Jr., her daughter Perla (Max) *her favorite son-in-law; grandchildren: Sidnee, Emmalee, Saul III, Ignacio "Chito", Jeweliana, Alexia, Isaira, Sarai and Marta; two great-grandchildren: Ezekiel and Jolene.
