Florence "Flossy" Willard Black

Florence "Flossy" (Willard) Black passed away August 3, 2024, at the Worland Health and Rehabilitation Center. Florence was born in Gillette, Wyoming, at her Grandmother Willard's chiropractic office on December 14, 1929. She was the second of four children born to Buron Holliday "B.H. Shorty" Willard and Goldie Pauline Marvel Willard. She lived in Gillette until 1936 when the family moved to Riverton. Florence attended school in Riverton until her family moved to Cody in 1947. She graduated from Cody High School in 1947. The fall of 1947, Florence moved with her family to Lloydminster, Alberta, Canada. In 1950, Florence came to Worland when her dad purchased the Husky bulk plant and gas station.

Florence married Lewis H. Black June 1, 1951, with six inches of snow on the ground. Florence and Lewis had three children, Sam, Ellen and Mark.

She belonged to Colter Community Club, was a 4-H leader, and past Matron of Cloud Peak #24 and Signal Cliff #49 OES, and a 3 term Republican Committee Woman (Colter area).

Florence was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lewis; son, Mark; brother, Edd (Joyce) Willard and sister, Cathy (John) Strong.

She is survived by her son, Sam; daughter, Ellen (Kim) Wilson; 4 grandchildren: Shannon (Randy) Rutschke, Sam (Janilyn) Black, Rebecca (Jason) Deboodt and Mark Wilson; and 7 great-grandchildren.

Graveside Services will be held, 2:00 PM, Saturday August 17, 2024 at Riverview Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Worland, Wyoming with Pastor Kayi Pfoze officiating.
