Primary Election Updates

Tom Schmeltzer defeated Aaron Anderson for the Republican nomination for County Commissioner.

Ed Cooper for Senate District 20 and Martha Lawley for House District 27 are poised to be reelected after winning their party's nominations Tuesday.

In a three-way race for Worland Mayor, Rebecca George pulled a considerable lead in the preliminary results and is in first place for Mayor candidacy in the General Election on November 5, followed by incumbent Jim Gill.

George received 534 votes, Gill received 402 votes, and Bruce Nolting received 361 votes. Three write-in votes were cast.

Preliminary results are in for the Senate race, and incumbent Senator John Barrasso has won the Republican primary election.

At 8:11 p.m. on August 20, he issued the following statement:

"Thank you, Wyoming! I am grateful for your overwhelming vote of confidence. I will continue to fight for every vote this November. Together, we can restore a Republican majority in Washington and secure a better future for hard-working Wyoming families."

First result in is Rep. Hageman earns Republican nomination as she has been projected the winner over Steven Helling.
