Serving the Big Horn Basin for over 100 years
Donald Albert Hampton, 82, of Worland, Wyoming, passed away peacefully at his home on December 6, 2024. He was born in Worland on April 26, 1942, to Kemper Lee and Mildred (Albert) Hampton. Tragically, both of his parents passed away when he was very young. Donnie and his brother spent two years in the Cathedral Home for Children in Laramie, Wyoming, before moving back to Worland to live with their aunts and uncles on the family ranch.
After graduating from Worland High School, Donnie ventured into the oilfields of the Gulf of Mexico, where he worked for a time before returning to his hometown. He joined McGarvin Moberly and spent the rest of his career there, dedicating himself to the company for many years. He was still at their company Christmas party just hours before his passing, showing his commitment and passion for both work and life.
Donnie's life was filled by a sense of community, love, and faith. He spent nearly 40 years with Lonna Tolman, his beloved partner, and together they formed a family bond that extended to Lonna's children and grandchildren, whom he embraced as his own. Though Donnie did not have biological children, his love for his extended family was infinite. He was always ready to lend a helping hand and remained actively involved in every aspect of his grandchildren's lives.
An avid fisherman, Donnie cherished spending time with his best friend, Tom Eller, on fishing trips. He was also a proud member of the Elks Lodge and Ducks Unlimited, and a die-hard Denver Broncos fan. One of his most cherished memories was his trip to Jerusalem, where he carried a cross and experienced the strength of his faith, a testament to his strong love for God and his devotion to his beliefs. Donnie was a dedicated member of Saint Albans Episcopal Church, where he found a sense of belonging and peace.
He was preceded in death by his parents; love of his life, Lonna Tolman; brother, Kemper Hampton; sister, Mary Lee Long; sister-in-law, Ruth Hampton; stepdaughter, Kim Tolman; grandchildren, Vance and Justin Roady.
He is survived by his step-daughter, Marla Tolman; step-son, Kirk Tolman both of Worland; brother, Milford Hampton of California; sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Hampton; step-grandchildren, Cameron (Jill) Roady, Julie (Lonnie) Cox, Coy Tolman, and Reath Tolman; step great-grandchildren, Reagann (Chance) Wilson, Sydnee, Brynlee, Maclee, Syler Roady, Jade (Taran) Vollmer, Gavin Roady (Maddie) and Addyson Roady, Mason Roady and Paige Roady; nephews, Scott, Kenneth, Mike, Geenie and Karen; and very special friends and neighbors, Amy Alexander, her son, Jaxon Bertch, Justin and Amanda Macy;
