Firefighters work to extinguish the aftermath of a fire that occurred July 14 near the sale yard. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but foul play has been ruled out as a cause.

WORLAND - A fire that occurred Wednesday, July 14 has been ruled as an accidental fire, but a specific cause has yet to be determined, according to Worland Fire Department Chief Chris Kocher.

It is unknown when a cause will be determined, Kocher said.

"We're still looking to process all of the information," Kocher said.

At 5:11 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, Washakie County Dispatch received a call regarding a structure fire located at 1310 B Lane 12. By the time firefighters arrived on the scene at 5:20 p.m., the building had already collapsed.

According to Kocher, the garage, which was a total loss, was valued at $27,910 with the adjacent home being valued at $63,487. The total damage to the garage and home was about $40,000 Kocher said.

Residual heat from the fire caused the home's vinyl siding to melt, Kocher said.

Also damaged in the fire were the building's contents, and several vehicles parked near the garage.

Kocher said it will be up to the building's occupants, Bob and Nancy Quinn, along with their insurance company to determine a dollar amount for the damaged property inside of the building, Kocher said.
