Worland man indicted in federal court in Montana

WORLAND — A grand jury has indicted Jesus Yeizon Deniz, 18, of Worland.

Investigators with the Bureau of Indian Affairs and Federal Bureau of Investigation allege that Deniz shot and killed Jason and Tana Shane near Pryor, Mont., Wednesday, July 29.

Their daughter, Jorah Shane, was also wounded while escaping the scene.

The charges on which Deniz was indicted were not immediately available at deadline, but documents filed in the Montana District of U.S. District Court indicate that Deniz was indicted Thursday morning in Great Falls, Mont.

Court documents allege that Deniz shot and killed Jason and Tana Shane after they had stopped to help. Deniz was allegedly arrested near Meeteetse after leaving the scene in Jorah Shane’s car.

Deniz was set to appear for a preliminary hearing in federal district court this morning in Billings, Mont., but because of the indictment, the hearing is no longer necessary, according to court documents.

More information will be published as it becomes available.
