Tires on a Big Horn Redimix trailer caught fire at the intersection of West River Road and 15 Mile Road in Worland Friday.

WORLAND – Big Horn Redimix truck driver Bruce Severson's Friday started off well, but ended in flames at the intersection of West River Road and 15 Mile Road in Worland at 8:45 a.m.

"I left Greybull and stopped in Basin for coffee and everything was fine until here when the tires started smoking," Severson said.

The fire started on the driver's side of the trailer but soon engulfed both sides. Worland Fire Department arrived and quickly had everything under control. No one was hurt in the incident.

Traffic was held up until the tires had stopped smoking due to exploding tires. The tires are extremely hot and are being cooled down quickly, which causes them to explode. We won't be letting traffic through until they stop smoking, we don't want one to explode and cause a driver to go over the bank, Washakie County Sheriff Deputy Austin Brookwell said.

The cause of the fire was unknown at the time.

"What a way to end the week," Severson said.
