Aguilar qualifies in 100, as Worland downs Rawlins

WORLAND — The Lady Warriors went on the road to Rawlins Thursday and came away with a 99-81 win, highlighted by a new state qualifying time from Felicia Aguilar in the 100 breast.

Aguilar won the event with a time of 1:22.87 and now has qualified in her second event this year after doing so in the 100 back at Worland’s home meet on Sept. 26.

Worland saw a small drop in its times, but overall coach Kim Wyman liked what she saw in the pool Thursday.

“Overall, our times were not fast but we are being consistent in our approach to individual races and that’s all in preparation for conference next week,” she said after the meet.

Hailey Schumacher was just one-tenth of a second from qualifying in the 500 free, posting a time of 6:41.60 with the 3A qualifying time being 6:41.50.

From top to bottom, though, the Lady Warriors turned in a solid performance.

The 200 medley relay team of Ellyse and Saydria Russell, Kristen Collingwood and Juli Warren took first while the 200 free relay team of Warren, Ellyse Russell, Kristen Collingwood and Megan Molitor also took first.

Ellyse Russell had two other first place finishes, winning both the 50 and 100 free. Warren finished third behind her in the 50 free while Saydria finished in second in the 100 free.

Worland took the top four spots in the 200 free led by Saydria Russell in first, Collingwood in second, Hannah McEndree in third and Brianna Jolley in fourth.

Warren, Collingwood, Morgan Haley, Molitor, Jolley and McKensi Smith occupied the top six spots in the 100 back, finishing in that order.

In the 100 fly, Haley finished in second place while McEndree followed in third.

The Lady Warriors will close out the regular season this evening as they host Cody for a dual at 5 p.m.

“The girls are very excited to have senior night and close out. I think they’re going to have a great meet tomorrow,” Wyman said Thursday.
