Dropping energy prices benefit Wyoming Gas customers

WORLAND – Due to energy prices dropping worldwide, 7,000 Wyoming Gas Company customers will see a break in their heating bills this winter.

Gordon Neumann, engineering manager for Natural Gas Processing, explained that Wyoming Gas purchases 75 percent of their gas for the year at a fixed cost and with prices dropping, the rebate goes directly to the customer.

On October 1, the Wyoming Public Service Commission authorized Wyoming Gas to pass on a 15.9 percent decrease to customers, which means customers can expect a monthly savings of around $11. Exact amounts will vary with individual gas usage.

Even if energy prices rebound, Wyoming Gas users can expect the decrease to last. “We are locked into the rate,” said Neumann, “so we don’t anticipate any change until at least October 2016.”

Wyoming Gas, founded in 1909 with headquarters in Worland, serves customers in Basin, Burlington, Byron, Greybull, Manderson, Thermopolis and Worland.
