Ten Sleep Library open house and silent auction Monday

December 12, 2015

WORLAND – People looking for quality crafts and homemade items will be able to find them at the Ten Sleep Library’s annual open house and silent auction Monday.

“There have been 80 or 81 items donated for the silent auction so far with more coming in every day,” Ten Sleep Library staff Veronica Risch said. “The items donated range from a quilt to a hand-crochet bedspread to Christmas decorations to baskets,” she added.

The open house and silent auction is put on by the Friends of the Ten Sleep Library every year and features items donated by the community for the silent auction. The open house runs from 5-8 p.m. Monday night with a silent auction and refreshments.

“There will be treats and goodies, wassail and coffee, ‘Washakie County Library Director Karen Funk said. “Our main focus is that it’s an open house Christmas party for people who generally don’t have a Christmas party. It’s open to the whole community young and old,” she added.

The silent auction items can be viewed at the Ten Sleep Library.

“Bidding will close at 7:30. Bidding is open right now if people want to stop in and place a bid on anything,” Funk said.

Participants in the silent auction do not have to be there when the bidding closes. “If you leave a bid and you are not there when the bidding closes we will call you and let you know that you have won the item,” Funk said.

This year the Ten Sleep Library will have a special guest at the open house, Wyoming author Craig Johnson.

“Craig Johnson will be there and he will have his books for sale. He will be reading a Christmas story, I think one of his, at 6:30 p.m.,” Funk said.
