Weekend Easter activities

WORLAND - There are many different activities in the area for youngsters this Easter weekend to search for Easter eggs, as the Easter bunny this year will be visiting the area both Saturday and Easter Sunday.

On Saturday there are three events:

Meeteetse Recreation District will be holding an Easter egg hunt for children through fourth grade at 10 a.m. sharp at the old golf course.

Thermopolis Rehabilitation and Care Center will be holding an Easter egg hunt for children up to 10 years old starting at 10:30 a.m.

Worland Aquatic Center Easter Egg Hunt:

The Worland Aquatic Center will be holding a wet Easter egg hunt for children from ages 3 to 13 starting at 1 p.m. The hunt is free to participate and parents and children are welcome to stay after the hunt for a free swim until 4 p.m. “We will try to start the Easter egg hunt as close to 1 p.m. as possible,” Worland Aquatic Center manager David Villa said.

There will be three age groups, 3-6, 7-10 and 11-13 and prizes will be awarded for collected eggs and parents of children under 8 will be required to be in the water with their children.

“This is our way of giving back to the community and showing our appreciation for their support,” Villa said. “We will be giving the children candy when they leave too,” he added.

On Easter Sunday there are three events:

Worland American Legion Easter Hunt:

The Worland American Legion Post 44 will host its 97th annual Easter egg hunt Sunday at 1 p.m. at Newell Sargent Park.

The hunt includes three separate age groups, birth to age 4, 5 to 7 and 8 to 10. All three groups will begin at the same time in their respective spots, according to Legion member Todd White. White said the Worland Police Department assists with the start with the blowing of a siren.

Children then disperse and hunt for candy hidden around the park.

White said the Easter Hunt was the first project the Legion conducted after it was formed in 1919. The hunt has changed over the years, with them hiding hard-boiled eggs for years and now hiding candy.

Ten Sleep/ Hyattville Lions Club Easter Hunt:

The Ten Sleep/ Hyattville Lions Club will be hosting its Easter hunt at 1 p.m. on the football field.

There will be four separate age groups, birth to 3, 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12 with prizes and ice cream.

Thermopolis Lions Club Easter Egg Hunt:

The Thermopolis Lions Club is hosting their annual Easter egg hunt at 2 p.m. at Hot Springs State Park.

There will be four separate age groups, 2 and under, 3-4, 5-6 and 7-8.
