WORLAND- The Worland Lady Warriors once again had a strong offensive showing to overpower the Buffalo Lady Bison 6-3 Saturday afternoon.
The Worland girls were aggressive from the start and had the offense clicking, as their first three goals were scored within the first 18 minutes of the match. Casey Wassum got things rolling with goals in the 2nd and 9th minutes while Hannah Ozmon scored her first goal of the game at the 18-minute mark to put Worland up 3-0.
A goal by Hazel Eklund in the 21st minute got the Lady Bison on the board and back into the game. However, the Lady Warriors would get the match's next two goals from Megan Molitor in the 46th minute and Ozmon in the 49th minute.
Even with the game at 5-1 the Lady Bison kept fighting, in the 51st minute a penalty was committed by the Lady Warriors setting up a penalty kick for Buffalo. Sadie Gruntmeir would capitalize on the PK giving her team a much needed goal.
In 72nd minute Wassum would complete the hat trick by scoring her third goal of the match giving the Lady Warriors a 6-2 lead. Buffalo's Michaela Rodriguez scored the match's final goal at the 77th minute.
The Lady Warriors record now sits at 3-0 and 1-0 in the quadrant.
Even with the great start to the season and having outscored their opponents 17-6 coach Danielle Warren wants the defense "to be more aggressive, step to the ball and not just the defensive line, the whole team needs to pressure early and look to control," she said.
She also added "We want to come out, improve each day, and work to get to that No. 1 seed and be the team that other people have to beat."
The next game for the Lady Warriors will be another 3 p.m. home match today against Riverton.
