When Trooper Kress approached the driver, Reuben Pitsch, 83, of Montana, he seemed confused and disoriented. He said he was heading to Hardin, Mont., despite heading in the opposite direction.

Kress contact the Golden Valley Sheriff’s Department and found that Pitsch had been missing since March 31 and had Alzheimer’s. Immediate attempts to contact family members were no successful so the troopers had an ambulance paged out from Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital.
