U.S. flag funding begins

WORLAND – Donations are now being accepted to return the American Flag Display along Big Horn Avenue for the summer holidays.

Late February, City of Worland Building Inspector Nick Kruger started the hunt for the flags that used to line Big Horn Avenue on the lights in the main downtown corridors during Memorial Day and other summer holidays.

With help from asking around, Kruger was able to identify the 25 flags in storage at ANB Bank.

Now, Kruger is asking the residents Worland to support the flag program by making donations of $50 per flag.

Whatever can be given will be accepted, but according to a flier available in City Hall for interested parties the goal “is to fundraise 100 donations at $50 each.”

It states: the funds will be used to purchase 35 new fiberglass poles (the city has 25), 60 new American flags and hardware for all 60 fiberglass poles. Many of the flags found were damages and weather and have to be retired at a proper flag retirement ceremony.

“Any funds collected in excess of our expenses will be put into a separate account and only used for the future flag program, they will not be used for any other city expenses,” the flier states.

Interested parties with questions or comments should be directed to Nick Kruger at 307-347-2486 ext. 103.
