WORLAND – A grand total of $777,200 of capital projects district-wide was approved by the Washakie County School District No. 1 Board of Trustees on Monday night for the 2017 fiscal year.

The money, provided by the general and major maintenance fund, will give Washakie County District No. 1 schools their top requested items like new whiteboards for East Side Elementary, varsity double rack lifting platform for the high school weight room, wrestling mats and a milk cooler for the middle school and replacement restroom privacy panels for the stalls at West Side Elementary.

The only school not to immediately receive their No. 1 request was South Sid Elementary for their request of a new communication security system.

Washakie County Business Manager Jack Stott previously said that request will be covered under another section with upcoming federal grant money and the new communication security system will be district-wide, rather than solely at South Side Elementary.

The top three requested items at East Side Elementary are the white boards in eight rooms for $12,500 from the general fund, a secretary chair for $500 from the general fund and a cork board installation for one room for $750 with money from the general fund.

At the board meeting, Worland Middle School Principal Ryan Clark thanked the board and jokingly warned them about infections from the mats before inviting them to take a look at the current mats.

Top requested items approved for South Side Elementary were 18 16-inch stack chairs for $678 from the general fund, sidewalk repair in the playground form the major maintenance fund for $8,000, safe hook coat hooks from the general fund for $3,300 and library shelving from the general fund for $19,850 for a total amount of $31,828.
