City's annual budget hearing tonight

June 21, 2016

WORLAND – City of Worland residents have an opportunity to discuss the 2016 – 2017 fiscal year budget Tuesday night 7 p.m. at city hall during the regular city council meeting.

Worland Mayor Dave Duffy said “The third reading and final budget approval by state statute requires a public hearing. All of it is public, but there is a specific hearing requirement.”

The agenda also lists a budget resolution and Duffy said it is for an amendment.

—Other business on the agenda includes the Worland Community Center Complex board position and a Worland Aquatic Center (WAC) appointment.

In April, the motion to allow Frank Bower to keep his board position after his term expired failed on the floor and Duffy said council would revisit it if no one put in an application.

County Clerk Mary Grace Strauch said advertisements for the board position ran three times in the Northern Wyoming Daily News and it went unanswered.

The advertisements ran on May 21, May 28 and June 1 with applications being accepted until June 3, Strauch said.

Duffy said the council will now consider approaching the secretary of state’s office about modifying the term requirements.

Mandy Horath’s term on the Worland Aquatic Center Joint Powers Board is expiring and Duffy said they will appointment someone new on council for the position.
