MERIDIAN - 11U Worland Baseball team travels to Meridian, Idaho, for the Cal Ripken Northwest Regional tournament on July 21-July 23.

Worland Baseball advanced to the Northwest Regional through an uncontested 11U Wyoming state tournament. This will be the program's third trip and opportunity to represent the town of Worland and state of Wyoming at the regional tournament.

The Northwest Regional tournament starts with pool play, then the top four teams in pool play advance to the semifinals for a chance to compete for the championship. Worland has played tough and improved each year in the tourney but hasn't been able to crack the top four.

Wanting to make it to the top four the program's organizers and coaching staff made a concentrated effort this season to play in tournaments outside Wyoming and against 12U teams. Playing tournaments in Idaho, Montana and Nebraska allowed for Worland to compete against a greater range of talented teams and gain valued experience.

Be sure to check the Daily News for updates on the 11U Worland Baseball team as they battle for the Northwest Regional championship. Worland will play two games Thursday, July 21 first against Willamette Valley at 8 a.m., then against Langley at 3:30 p.m. Friday's games will be at 10:30 a.m. versus Whitefish and at 6 p.m. versus Middleton.
