Greybull man wins BBQ Bluegrass Run

Mae Smith of Greybull races Worland High School cross-country runner Brooke Seidel to the finish line during Saturday's 5k BBQ Bluegrass Run. The event kicked off Saturday's festivities for the 12th annual Pepsi Wyoming State BBQ Championship & Bluegrass Festival.

WORLAND - The second annual 5k BBQ Bluegrass Run had participants of all ages competing at 8 a.m. Saturday morning at the Washakie County Fairgrounds.

The Worland High School cross-country team competed separately from other competitors according to organizer Tanya Kienlen.

Dusty Smith of Greybull was first in the non high-school division with a time of 22:08. Manuel Ramirez of Worland was second with a time of 23:16.

Mae Smith of Greybull was third and the first woman to cross racing to the finish line with high school runner Brooke Seidel. Smith had a time of 24:22.

Jared Gebauer was fourth at 24:25 and Danielle Earl was fifth at 26:10. All five received gift certificates to the Wind River Casino for dinner, hotel or gambling.

Kienlen said, "We had a great group and we appreciate the community support. The weather was perfect.

"We hope next year will just get bigger and better.
