POWELL — Four Northwest College jazz ensembles promise a “spectacular concert” Tuesday, Nov. 15, in the Nelson Performing Arts Center in Powell.

The 7 p.m. performance features the musical stylings of two jazz combos directed by Matt Devitt and Craig Olson; plus the NWC Jazz Band II, also directed by Olson, and Vocal Jazz II, directed by Brennan Baglio.

Student performers from the area include McKensi Smith of Worland, Logan Maurer of Meeteetse and Nick Murdoch of Greybull.

Devitt said all the musicians in his jazz combo are new, which has made “learning and rehearsing these tunes this semester a blast. The format of tenor and trumpet gives this ensemble a classic sound. Sometimes swingin’, sometimes funky, the group has enjoyed preparing the music, working on musical interaction, and playing in the musically freer context of the small group setting.”
