Students honored at Ten Sleep School Board meeting

December 17, 2016

TEN SLEEP – During the Ten Sleep School Board meeting Monday evening several students were honored for different achievements from football to state drama to students of the month.

Ten Sleep football coach Jake Zent stated that Zane Taylor received honorable mention and all-conference in football and Corey Rice received all-conference in football and honorable mention all-state in football.

Worland High School Drama Coach Rick Dorn attended the board meeting to honor Ten Sleep student Madisyn Boltz for all-state drama. “You have a student, working almost entirely on her own, who competed this year with Worland over at the state competition in Laramie that we did two weeks ago. She placed in the top 10 in the state in both of her events. She placed sixth in publicity and she placed fourth in her costume design, which is where you basically have to come up with costumes for a play. She chose to do “Death of a Salesman” and you have to do paperwork and so forth to illustrate how you would design the costumes for a show. She was one of probably, I want to say 40-50 people entered and her year, her category, she’s in one of the upper level years so she had more costumes she had to do for it and she placed not only fourth overall in costume design but the judges liked it so much they named her to the all-state cast. So she gets a special all-state recognition for state drama.”

Ten Sleep School Principal Russell Budmayr honored the November students of the month with a certificate and an explanation of why each student was chosen by their teachers for the honor. Keller Dehmel was chosen as the elementary student of the month because he is spunky, happy, fun and respectful. His brain is like a science sponge, he’s always smiling, always willing to help a friend and stays to push in chairs after everyone runs to recess. He is a hard worker, takes pride in his work, is just a nice, friendly, pleasant kid and his art teacher said that he can fling glaze with the best of them, Budmayr stated.

Brian Rice was chosen as the middle school student of the month. Budmayr stated that the teachers chose Rice because he is a great kid, easy going and fun loving. He is a good leader, vocal and when injured in football stayed and helped the coach everyday just to help out his teammates. He is enthusiastic, always smiling, has a positive attitude, is responsible, kind, a goof-ball, dedicated and greets adults with a “good morning.”

The high school student of the month was Charity Starr because she is a good student, wants to learn, outgoing, responsible, a joy to have in class, nice, respectful and makes people’s day. She is loud, fun loving, has a great sense of humor, charismatic and a great student. She also did a great job teaching elementary students to play auto harp, Budmayr said.
