DAILY NEWS/ ALEX KUHN Warrior Trae Burgess fights off his Cody competitor during Tuesday night's dual vs. Cody at Worland High School.

WORLAND - The Worland Warriors took care of business Thursday night beating 2A Greybull/Riverside 68-12 at Riverside High School.

"Tonight we wrestled very well," said WHS wrestling coach Josh Garcia. "Greybull doesn't have the numbers this year, and they're a smaller 2A school but a good program. But it was a good dual in the sense we were able to rest some varsity guys and bumped up a few JV guys and I'm happy with how our kids wrestled."

Stepping up for the Warriors were 132-pounder Christian Beccaria, 152-pounder Ryan Galindo and 170-pounder JR Hofmann. Beccaria picked up a pin while Galindo and Hofmann lost their matches.

"Christian Beccaria did well (tonight), stepped up and got a pin, Ryan Galindo did a good job even though he lost his match. I told him afterwards to stay positive and soak in the experience of being on varsity, and he looked at me like I was crazy," said coach Garcia laughingly. "I was really proud of him and his effort tonight."

"When we move our lineup around we're able to bump him up," said coach Garcia about Hofmann. "(Tonight) was his first varsity dual and he did a fantastic job. He fell short only losing by a few points but I like his attitude in that he's not afraid to get in there and mix it up."

Coach Garcia liked the leadership shown during the dual by Morgan Tiger and Travis Tatkenhorst.

"Morgan Tigner got a pin for us and every match he's winning he's building confidence. He's starting to show those leadership qualities that every time he steps on the mat he has that sense of pride and confidence. The younger guys are starting to look up to him.

"Travis Tatkenhorst got a pin for us too and showed how reliable he is for the team. It's nice to have those high expectations for guys like that and as a coach it's a good feeling to know you can turn to them whenever," said coach Garcia.

The Warriors will have the weekend off which comes at an opportune time as the team battles the flu bug that has been going around.

"We're definitely a little sick and beat up and we can use this weekend to rest up and get better," said coach Garcia. "Four weeks on the road wears on you and we're looking for our team to get our feet underneath us again. Then when we return back to practice we'll hit that last third of the season hard and look to finish strong."

The next competition for the Warriors will be the Warrior Quad on Feb. 2 at Worland High School.
