WORLAND – The Washakie County Sheriff’s Office and Worland Police Department have issued a warning to all residents to be on the lookout for fake $20 bills that have been circulated in the Big Horn Basin.

According to Washakie County Sheriff Steve Rakness, “It has been reported to me, through one of our local banks, that unknown subjects, mostly teenagers or possibly young adults are passing fake $20 bills, at least at Blair’s Market in Thermopolis.”

The fake money is in the form of a $20 bill with ‘Motion Picture Use Only’ on the front right hand upper side and on the back upper edge as well. On the front left /lower side is ‘This Note Is Not Legal, It Is To Be Used For Motion Pictures.’ And, on the eagle in a circle is written, above and below the eagle, ‘United We Stand,’ Rakness said.

“If you look at the bill, it is plainly obvious it is not real. Please take the time to inspect $20 bills and prevent any exchange of this fake money. Please report anyone who attempts to pass this fake money to your local law enforcement,” he said.
