WORLAND - It has been a long journey for six Worland Lady Warrior soccer players and today they will be recognized for their contributions to the program as the they host the No. 5 Douglas Lady Bearcats.

Carley King, Hannah McEndree, Shania McGarvin, Megan Molitor, Hannah Ozmon and Brooke Seidel are the seniors being honored today in what will be their final home match of the regular season.

"Having them back this season has been nice. We've been working hard and I've been super impressed with the girls. They've been giving it everything they can every day. They're excited and motivated to finish the season strong. They're a tight-knit unit and I like watching how they come together as a team and the leadership by Shania [McGarvin] and Megan [Molitor] has been awesome," said WHS girls soccer coach Danielle Warren.

The experience and leadership the six seniors have brought to the Lady Warriors this season has been invaluable as they've helped the younger players with their play and the program's expectations for them.

"It's so cool having six seniors out of 11. I love the energy they bring; they're very positive and very accepting. We did a team building exercise where each of them sacrificed something for the team and that was really powerful and really cool to see what each of them gave back to the team. Then hearing their experiences over the last four years was also great to listen to," said Warren. "Obviously, their goal this year is a state title and when you have this many seniors that are driven, the sky is the limit. It's fun to have that leadership and it has made a big difference to the team and program."

The No. 3 Lady Warriors host the No. 5 Douglas Lady Bearcats at 4 p.m.; this week's practices have gone well for the team with new adjustments and schemes being added to the mix.

"We've been working on our offense this week and have added some new things. I'm excited to see how it's going to work out. We've also talked about our rotations and how we'll need people comfortable in different positions. This part of the season is more tactical as we figure out our positioning on the field and where we need to be on certain sets," said Warren.

The Lady Bearcats will throw out various defensive schemes to try and slow down the Lady Warriors' high-powered offense, which is tied for first in goals scored at 41 with the Cody Fillies, but Warren is eager to see how this week's adjustments will take.

"Douglas will put two and three on the ball and bunch things up. So it will be interesting to see if we're able to swing the ball quickly, are we able to move from high pressure positioning on the field to opening up the field and making those switches," said Warren.

Senior Night will follow after the Lady Warriors match with Douglas has concluded.
