WORLAND - Big Horn Basin Blue Jay Coy Larkins has been selected to the Senior Babe Ruth Wyoming All-Star Regional team and will play in the Pacific Northwest regional tournament July 19-23 in Calgary, Canada.

"I thought it was about time," said Coy Larkins when asked about his thoughts on being named to the Wyoming team. "After the years of work put in it was a good feeling to get that call."

Larkins added, "It definitely drives me. When I go out there I definitely let the other team know that I wanted to dominate their team. I don't think the other coaches appreciate that and that's why I didn't get picked. I don't care about making friends when I've out there competing."

Larkins was selected to the Wyoming All-Star team for his ability to shut down opposing batters from the mound and on non-pitching games he will be behind the plate.

Being paired up with the best from across the state will be fun but will also bring challenges as the team tries to build chemistry.

"It's going to be pretty hard to get that chemistry going since I've been with my team since I was 14 years old," said Larkins.

As part of the Pacific Northwest region the Wyoming team will go up against the best from Alaska, Canada, Idaho, Montana and Washington for the tournament's top prize.

Battling against other super teams will bring tough competition but, Larkins and his teammates will be ready and will look to bring home the championship.

"It will be tough going against teams that play all year around but we'll be ready for it," said Larkins, "I want to go out there and set the tone and show them that a Wyoming kid can do just as good, or better, than they can, the goal is to get to the championship game."
