King's Carpet wins first Bloomin' Business of the month award

WORLAND – King's Carpet in Worland has been announced as the June Bloomin' Business winner with their flower garden and planters filled with purple, pink and yellow flowers.
Kathy Mercado and Monica Schriber of King's Carpet stated that the flower garden and planters were planted in an afternoon by a group of about five and that their vision was beautification. They added that they chose a variety flowers that would bloom all summer, fit the color pattern in their heads and would fit in the dimensions of the garden space.
Worland Garden Club President Kay Fritzler stated that she was happy to see that King's Carpet had used Worland's city flower, the petunia.
The Bloomin' Business contest is a contest spearheaded by the Worland Board of Adjustment and Planning Commission (BAPC) in an effort to promote beautification and showcase the city of Worland to visitors. The contest runs from June through September.
BAPC member Garret Immesoete said he would like to see the Bloomin' Business program expanded through the whole year to encourage businesses to decorate for the different seasons or holidays.
The BAPC has enlisted the help of the Worland Garden Club, who will judge planters and other landscaping in front of businesses. The garden club already honors a residential yard or garden each month during the summer and will also honor a Bloomin' Business each month as well.
According to the BAPC, 147 letters have been sent out to area businesses inviting the businesses to participate in the contest. Interested businesses just need to contact assistant city clerk Norma Homan at city hall at 347-2486, extension 102, or email Homan at cityofw@rtconnect. Businesses need to be registered so the garden club will know which businesses in town are participating for judging.
Fritzler stated that at the time of judging only eight businesses had registered and that she would like to see more so that not only could the garden club choose a winner for each month but a honorable mention as well.
Winners will be given a Bloomin' Business of the Month sign and be featured in the Northern Wyoming Daily News.
