WORLAND – This week, music lovers throughout the Washakie County have been able to find pleasure in the performances at the fairgrounds. With performances every night this week, Friday marks the end of the performance line up with a performance by Daniel Kosel and the Crue.

Daniel Kosel and the Crue have been a band for two years, the term “crue” being deprived from the old English term in England meaning “small group of men playing music.”

Lead singer Daniel Kosel was this year’s fair board musical artist consultant, and was in charge of putting together the lineup of nightly entertainment. Kosel started as a solo artist, playing in Billings and Red Lodge, but helped form the band in 2016 with two friends from Red Lodge. The band is still completed by two guitarists (Kosel and Wells Wright) and a drummer (Robert James).

The band’s main genre focuses are classic country, rock and blues.

According to Kosel, the songs are “poetry with really powerful guitar.”

Aside from the band, Kosel also has musical focus as a solo artist, and with a duet called “Daniel and Marley,” made up of cello-guitar duets.

Kosel started seriously playing the guitar at 12, but didn’t start playing professionally until about two years ago. Within that time frame, Kosel has played 500 professional gigs.

The band is heavily influenced by multiple artists, including AC/DC and Ozzy Osborne.

The band may be familiar to the county due to them winning Battle of the Bands last year.

Opening for the Crue will be Ten Sleep musician, Lacy Nelson.

Kosel reminds that none of this week’s entertainment would have been possible without Josh Oyce with Stillwater Sound Productions who provided the equipment needed by artists.
