Worland winter sport teams kickoff season this weekend

WORLAND - The winter sports seasons for the Worland High School basketball teams, wrestling and boys swimming get their seasons' underway today and tomorrow.

The Worland varsity wrestling team is in Rapid City for the Rapid City Invitational today and tomorrow, while the JV team will be in Powell for the weekend.

Warrior swimming heads to Powell todays, then Cody on Saturday for the Cody Invitational.

Both Worland basketball teams are playing in the East-West Classic tournament, the Lady Warriors will play their games in Lovell at Lovell High School and the Warriors will be in Buffalo, playing at Buffalo High School.

The Lady Warriors varsity team opens the Classic against defending 3A State champions, the Douglas Lady Bearcats at 1:30 p.m. Then Saturday they'll play Pinedale at 9 a.m. and Buffalo at 4:30 p.m. The JV team will play at Lovell Middle School, playing against Douglas today at 4:30 p.m. and on Saturday, Rawlins at 10:30 a.m.

The No. 4-ranked Warriors Classic schedule at Buffalo High School starts today with a 2:30 p.m. game against Douglas. Then Saturday the Warriors play Pinedale at 8 a.m. and 3A Northwest conference rival Lander at 5:30 p.m., which will count as a non-conference game.

Playing in the auxiliary gym at Buffalo High School all weekend, the Warriors JV team go against Douglas at 1 p.m. and Pinedale at 7 p.m. today, and on Saturday they close out their weekend against Lander at 4 p.m.
