There was much to be thankful for on Monday, including that the American Legion Floyd Minch Post 44 moved the annual Memorial Day Ceremonies inside the Post due to the rain and the saturated ground at Riverview Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

During the ceremonies, Col. E. Steven Alkire, director of Joint Staff for the Wyoming National Guard, spoke about the two servicemen for whom the Worland National Guard Armory is named — Lt. Richard L. Friedlund and PFC Fred Garcia.

Both served with honor for the 2-300th Field Artillery C-Battery, the highest decorated unit in the Korean War.
