October 14, 2021

WORLAND — The Washakie County Fair Board selected dates for the 2022 fair and are looking at possible new grandstand entertainment events.

At Monday’s regular meeting, the board opted to keep the dates similar to this year, July 25-July 30 with the horse show on July 23.

The board had considered moving it closer the state fair but did receive several comments from people who enjoyed the fair being on a different week than Big Horn and Hot Springs County so people could support those fairs as well.

Wyoming State Fair next year is Aug. 16-20.

In other business, board member Sherry Walter reported that she had been unsuccessful in getting someone from Worland school system to call her back regarding a donkey basketball fundraiser next year.

She also reported that she attended the livestock sales committee meeting and the committee is looking at providing buyers numbers with the buyers name on the opposite side in order for auctioneers to identify buyers easier during the sale.

She said there were a few youth who sold animals this year but who did not turn in record books and thus will be unable to sale next year. The committee was notifying the youth.

ENTERTAINMENT

Walter then reported that several potential musical entertainment groups have contacted the board through the board’s website.

She said Jared Rogerson of Pinedale has expressed interest in performing in Worland at the fair. Jake Gill also expressed interest and Sharon Klein Productions could set up several acts including musical tribute acts.

Walter also said a motocross stunt group from Casper has also expressed interest.

The board asked Walter to get cost information from all the acts and let them know what dates fair will be next year to find out about availability.

The next board meeting will be Nov. 8.
