WPC schedules Prevention Night in January
December 23, 2021
WORLAND – At their most recent meeting, the Washakie Prevention Coalition discussed preparation for their Prevention night.
Prevention Night will take place during home games for the varsity Warriors and Lady Warriors basketball games. Everyone is welcome to cheer on the Warriors teams while showing support for the youth being substance free.
Each of the Washakie County School District No. 1 students will receive shirts to wear. Community members will also be asked to wear white to show their support. There will be halftime performances by the State Cheer and State Dance Teams.
Prevention Night is an opportunity to show wide community support for the youth of the community choosing to be substance free.
“It can sometimes feel like youth are expected to make a lot of good choices on their own, and this is our chance as a community to show up in a big way and say we’re all behind you, we’re proud of you, we’re supporting you,” Washakie County Youth Alternative’s program director Sarah Garcia said.
Garcia explained that this year will basically be the same as 2020’s, with the main point being a “white-out” game to show support for youth who choose not to use illegal substances in Washakie County.
The event will take place during the game on January 29 during the games at 4 and 5:30 p.m.
