WORLAND - The Wyoming Association of Municipalities has named its clerk and treasurer of the year. Of the 99 municipalities in Wyoming, Worland's Clerk/Treasurer Tracy Glanz received the award.
"Given that there are 99 municipalities in the state, I am very honored," Glanz said Wednesday.
Glanz was hired as City of Worland payroll/deputy clerk in September 2000. She was appointed clerk/treasurer in January 2004.
Worland Mayor Dave Duffy and City Attorney Kent Richins sent letters of nomination to the Wyoming Association of Municipalities. Both praised Glanz' hard work, and said she has helped make their jobs much easier.
In his letter of nomination, Duffy said, "Tracy is most helpful to me as I continue (as mayor). Tracy does very best to treat everyone she deals with - employees, customers, citizen complainers, city councilmen and newly-elected members - with the utmost respect.
"Tracy takes up the slack when a department head leaves, and too often wears too many hats. Tracy displays vision; she foresees my foot in my mouth and suggests a different approach. She is proud of her community and has a right to be proud of the contribution she makes to it."
In his letter of nomination, Richins said, "I consider Tracy to be the most important member of our team of professionals who provide day-to-day services for the City of Worland. She is the go-to person and is well-versed in most issues the city deals with."
Wyoming Association of Municipalities and Buffalo Clerk/Treasurer Julie Silbernagel, who presented a plaque to Glanz at Tuesday's council meeting, said Glanz is very deserving of the award.
"To be the one picked for the year, that's the amazing thing," Silbernagel said, adding, "She just exudes calm all the time, and you can ask her to do anything. She could be ruffled under the surface and you wouldn't know it."
Glanz has served in various roles for the Wyoming Association of Municipalities including serving on the organization's board of directors from 2006 through 2011.
