First baby of 2016 arrives for Washakie Medical Center

Ashley and Michael Bower Jr. are the parents of Washakie Medical Center's first baby of 2016, Briana Christine, born Jan. 5, 2016.

WORLAND - Washakie Medical Center greeted the hospital's first baby of 2016 on Tuesday, Jan. 5 at 11:27 a.m. Parents Ashley and Michael Bower Jr. of Worland welcomed daughter Briana Christine, 7 pounds, 5 ounces and 20 inches long.

Briana has two older sisters ages 4 and 18 months. Ashley Bower said these girls are the first females to be born on Michael's side of the family in 50 years.

Hospital staff members congratulated Ashley and Michael on the birth of their New Year's baby with a basket full of baby clothes, diapers, toys, bathing items and blankets for home.

In 2015, Washakie Medical Center delivered 66 babies compared to 52 in 2014. There were 27 girls, 39 boys and one set of twins for the year.

Washakie Medical Center is a county-owned hospital in Worland operated by Banner Health, one of the nation's largest nonprofit health care systems with 29 hospitals in seven states.
