Medical marijuana discussion tonight

WORLAND — Wyoming NORML (National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws) will be at the Washakie County Library in Worland tonight 6-8 p.m. to have a public discussion about medical cannabis and hemp cultivation.

According to Carrie Satterwhite, board member of Wyoming NORML, there has been a lot of misinformation put out in the public recently and NORML is working to set the record straight.

Wyoming NORML is working to put the Peggy A. Kelly Cannabis Act on the 2018 ballot and give Wyoming residents a say on this issue, she said.

“People deserve the chance to vote on this very important issue and we are working to make that happen. It doesn’t matter if you support or oppose this issue you should come down and hear the presentation and ask questions. We are working to make this an honest conversation within our state.”

Satterwhite said Wyoming NORML is about halfway through the signature collection process to put the initiative on the ballot in 2018 and they must have petitions returned to the Secretary of State no later than February 2017 to get this issue put on the ballot.

The discussion in Worland is part of a series of public discussions including ones recently in Gillette and Powell with more to come throughout the summer, Satterwhite said.
