Jakob Josef Weber passed away peacefully Saturday, June 18, 2016 in the Washakie Medical Center due to complications from his recent hip surgery. He was 88 years old.

Jake was born on December 25, 1927 in Worland WY. He was the first born son of Josef and Maria Weber. After completing the 8th grade, he stayed and helped his father on the family farm; following right behind him was his best buddy, his sister Mary. He then went into the Korean War in Aug. of 1950 and served as a Sergeant for the Army National Guard Battery C 300th AFA BN until 1952. He was then released with a Honorable discharge and received the Distinguished Unit Citation, Korean Service Medal w/2 Bronze Service Stars and the United Nations service Medal. He had many stories that he shared with friends and family of the 2 years he spent serving his country.

Jake stayed with farming and went out on his own leasing various farms and following in his dad's footsteps in the Worland area after his term of service. He married Mildred Born, and they had two sons, Steve and Gene Weber. Later, in 1971 they divorced and in April 1971 he married Charlene (Kay) Keeler along with her children Ronee Kay and Frank. They stayed on the farm for 2.5 years. In 1973 Jake and Kay changed their lifestyles by purchasing the Blue Ribbon Bar in Meeteetse where they made plenty of friends for the few years that they owned it.

After they sold the bar Jake went to work for Kobbe Construction, Lewis Construction and then later went to work for the State of Wyoming Highway Department where he met his good friend Rick Bluel. After he retired from the Highway Department he started driving school bus routes and the Rec Senior bus to Cody. While living in Meeteetse he was the Commander of the American Legion Post 85, and the Fire Chief for the Meeteetse Fire Department, both of these positions meant a great deal to him.

During his retirement times he spent plenty of time with Kay at the Tolman Ranch in Tensleep cleaning, fixing, and repairing numerous items that needed his assistance.

Jake was very notorious for using whatever resources he had access to to fix and repair equipment. Just ask Frank about the tractor at the Ranch that didn't steer very well.

He really enjoyed the time he got to spend with the grand kids, Michael and Kurt Hogg, Kaytlyn and Karson Keeler, and really enjoyed when Great Granddaughter Mia would come to visit.

Jake is survived by his wife Kay, stepchildren Ronee Hogg of Meeteetse and Frank (Wendy) Keeler of Farson, sons Steve Weber of Paso Robles, California and Gene Weber of Willow Springs, Missouri; sisters Bertha Schmitt of Powell, Mary Lenox of Casper and Betty Merritt of Riverton, numerous nieces and nephews, four grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Victor and William and sister Irma.
