Darrel Raymond Gossens, 77, passed away on July 5, 2016 after a nine-year battle with kidney cancer.

Darrel was born on February 17, 1939, the son of Raymond and June (Doyle) Gossens of Ten Sleep in Worland. He spent his younger years growing up on the family ranch on the Lower Nowood. He graduated from Ten Sleep High School in 1957. After graduation he worked around the area before going to work for the Federal Bureau of Roads. He spent many years building roads in National Parks, on the Big Horn Mountains, and in Colorado, Montana and Utah. He moved back to Ten Sleep working for Washakie County Road and Bridge. He loved to move dirt and make roads that were easy to maintain. He owned his own earthmoving business and cleaned reservoirs, built roads and cleaned ditches in his spare time.

Darrel was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and June Gossens.

Survivors include his wife, Linda of Ten Sleep and seven children: Valerie (Marty) Shoopman, Ty (Carol) Gossens, Darlee (Mike) Deninger, Ryan (Sheila) Gossens, Jodi Lovell, Kristen (Jeremy) Marcus and Kraig (Kady) Gossens. He has been blessed with 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2016 at the Ten Sleep Methodist Church. Inurnment will be in the Ten Sleep Cemetery.
