Anna Lass Hefenieder Weigel

Ann was born in Smith Lake, Minnesota June 29, 1914, the third of fourteen children born to Peter and Anna Margaret Spomer Lass. She passed into His loving arms September 15, 2017. One hundred three years - two and one half months - at Willamette Falls Adult Home Care in Oregon City, Oregon.

Her early years were spent in Minnesota and Nebraska before the family moved to Wyoming. Ann developed a strong work ethic along with her parents, sisters and brothers working the sugar beet fields. During the 2nd World War, Ann would tell of the prisoners of war, under guard, also worked in the beet fields for many of the German families.

Ann married John Hefenieder, they were blessed with two children, Phyllis Hefenieder Hampton and David Arnold Hefenider. The family moved to Portland, Oregon in 1946. As sometimes happens Ann and John divorced. Later Ann married Matt Weigel, her family grew instantly as Matt's three children John, Pat and Rosemary joined the family circle. Ann and Matt built their home together in Oregon City, Oregon. Matt preceded Ann in death in 1997. John Weigel and Rosemary Weigel Mace also preceded Ann in death. Besides her children Ann is survived by two brothers, Pete Lass of Longview, Washington, George Lass of Yuma, Arizona and sister Lillian Lass Day of Oregon. Ann's legacy includes her grandchildren, great grandchildren, three great-great grandsons, nieces, nephews and friends.
