Washakie County Junior Livestock Sale tops $175,000

Washakie County 4-H and Chief Washakie FFA member Elizabeth Voss enters the sale arena with auctioneers Adam Redland and Gary Nash during the Washakie County Fair Junior Livestock Sale Saturday, Aug. 3, in Worland.

WORLAND - Area businesses showed their generosity for Washakie County youth at the Washakie County Fair Junior Livestock Sale Aug. 3, purchasing 83 animals for $176,041.47.

Washakie County 4-H Extension Educator Amber Armajo said the sale amount includes $12,201 from add-ons, where companies support youth by designating an amount to add on to an animal's final sale price.

Armajo said the sale amount was about $21,000 higher than last year with 15 fewer animals sold.

There were 83 animals sold at the livestock sale. The average price for sheep was $6.46 per pound; swine $5.58 per pound, beef...
