Amalia "Millie" Snider

October 3, 2019

Millie Snider was born Amalia Habersatter on February 3rd, 1935 in Radstadt, Austria to Mathias and Amalia (Erlbacher) Habersatter. She grew into a beautiful young woman during World War II in war torn Europe. In 1956, with her husband and infant son, Millie immigrated to the United States but proudly maintained her Austrian heritage. She lived in various small towns scattered across Wyoming and Montana before permanently settling in Worland in 1964. Millie worked tirelessly at different jobs to provide for her children. She even spent one Fall driving a beet truck for the Holly Sugar Factory. During this time, Millie proudly became a U.S. citizen. Millie finally found her calling in 1969, beginning her 46-year career of selflessly caring for patients at the Worland hospital. During this time, she spread her insurmountable kindness to patients and coworkers alike. Soon enough, Millie was recognized and beloved by everyone around her. She retired in 2015 but continued caring for others, always putting their needs ahead of her own.

Those lucky enough to have known Millie will remember her for her kindness, selflessness, and love, which she gladly demonstrated to everyone she met. From family to friends to complete strangers, Millie was always thinking of others and how she could brighten their day. She constantly sent letters, gave gifts, and delivered meaningful compliments to those she was thinking about. Even complete strangers were graced with cheerful compliments when she would enter the room. Millie's heartwarming and refreshing presence never failed to make everyone smile. Her effect on this world is overwhelmingly positive and something to strive for.

After a brave and brutal 2 ½ month battle with a terrible infection, her body succumbed and Millie peacefully passed away on September 18, 2019 in Laurel, Montana. Millie is survived by a brother and many natural and adopted children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who carry her in their hearts. To her family and friends, Millie is and always will be our guardian angel. A tireless mother, a nurturing grandmother, and a best friend, Millie made the world a better place. Though she will be dearly missed, she will live on forever in our hearts.
