Irene Douzenis

Irene Douzenis, 86-year-old long time Worland resident, passed away on October 2, 2019 at the Washakie Medical Center.

Irene was born on March 27, 1933 in Rio, Patras, Greece to Pete and Georgia Tsoubos. She grew up with her with her twin brother, Theodore along with sister Maria and brothers, Deno and Mimi.

She married Harry Bill Douzenis in Patras, Greece on June 29, 1958. Harry had immigrated to the U.S. in 1955, but had returned to marry Irene. They settled first in Montana before moving to Worland. She worked side by side with Harry at the Worland Country Club and also at their family restaurant, "Harry's Steakhouse" from 1988 until 1997 when they retired. She was truly the strength behind the relationship in the home and the business.

She was a member of the St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Worland.

Irene was truly a 'servant to all', she loved to cook and bake. She was meticulous in any food that made. She was the happiest when she was taking care of others. She loved flowers and many bouquets were sent to brighten someone's day. She was extremely proud of her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harry in 1998, son Bill Harry Douzenis in 1977, brothers, Theodore, Deno and Mimi and sister, Maria

Survivors include her children, George (Mary) Douzenis of Herriman, Utah; Pete (Wendi) Douzenis of Worland and Elaine Douzenis (Bill Rushing) of Worland; grandchildren, Anthony, Ana, Bill, Pete, Jr., Brock and Cherise; great-grandchildren, Caleigh and Audreigh.

Funeral services were held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 5, 2019 at St. Alban's Episcopal Church in Worland with Father Stephen Ziton from the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church officiating. Burial followed at Riverview Memorial Gardens Cemetery. A Trisagion Service was held at 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at the Bryant Funeral Home Chapel.
