Serving the Big Horn Basin for over 100 years
Leslie Scott Kimzey, 79, passed away peacefully at his home in Snowflake, AZ on October 16, 2020. Scott was born December 5, 1940, in Worland, WY to Clarence Leslie and Virginia Viola (Whitlock) Kimzey.
In high school, Scott met Patricia Ann Grable. Following his graduation in 1959 and hers in 1960, the couple was sealed on June 14, 1961 in the Salt Lake City Temple.
Scott and Pat both loved gardening and growing things. In 1975, they purchased a commercial greenhouse, flower shop and Radio Shack franchise in their hometown. Scott grew many of the plants they sold and offered landscaping services.
Even after moving on to other employment, Scott loved creating beautiful landscaping for each home they lived in. After retiring, Scott purchased land in Snowflake, Arizona, where he and his sons created a family farm he worked until his illness advanced earlier this summer.
Scott had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to tease others. He often said, "I only tease people I like" and he teased everyone! Whether it was his family, friends, co-workers, or nurses, no one was immune from his sense of fun and laughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents and beloved wife, Pat, son-in-law, Jose Dastas and nephew, Mike Bryant.
Survivors include his four children: David (Nancy) Kimzey, Jalaire Brinegar, Sharilyn Dastas, and Devon Kimzey, all of Snowflake; his sister Denny Bryant of Worland, his brother Bruce (Judy) Kimzey of Phoenix, as well as his 14 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Scott will be held 1:00 pm, Saturday, October 24, at the Pioneer Park LDS Chapel at 506 1st St E, Snowflake, Arizona. Burial will follow at the R.V. "Mike" Ramsay Memorial Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will take place one hour prior to services at the church.
