Washakie County has nearly all C.A.R.E.S. items approved

The State Loan and Investment Board (SLIB) met on Thursday, Nov. 5, and approved $1,053,525 worth of Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) funding for various items submitted by Washakie County entities.

The individual items that were recommended by the Office of State Lands and Investments (OSLI) and were approved without testimony were $30,000 of emergency medical services (EMS) equipment, another set of EMS equipment for $75,000, Washakie County Courthouse telework equipment for $13,762, courthouse Geographic Information System (GIS) for $4,995, a washer and dryer along with laptops for the Washakie County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) for $27,000 and the WCSO payroll for $712,768.

Items that were not recommended at first but were approved through testimony were a new Washakie County Emergency Management vehicle for $70,000, a new WCSO transport vehicle for $60,000 and new mobile data terminals for the WCSO in the amount of $60,000.

Two items for the WCSO were not approved despite testimony, a request of $62,000 for a new patrol vehicle and a request for $17,500 for radios.

These items must be received by the county before Dec. 30, 2020, and all receipts by the county must be submitted by Dec. 15.
