Serving the Big Horn Basin for over 100 years
James Arthur Miller, 66, passed away at his home on January 9, 2021. Jim was born in Colfax, Washington on August 4, 1954 to Joseph Kenneth and Patricia (Conklin) Miller. The family moved to Baker, Oregon where Jim attended elementary school. He graduated from Dos Palos High School in California in 1973, later receiving his certificate in Diesel Mechanics in Denver, Colorado. He went to work for CAT Equipment for a short time before helping with the family business, J & P Icing and later Hanford Ice.
Jim came to Wyoming with his brother, Mike, just for a visit but he loved it so much, he never left.
His life was all about service. Anytime there was an opportunity to help, Jim would be there and most likely at least 30 minutes early! Whether doing yard work, a building project, property cleanup or cutting firewood for someone, he was there, right in the middle of the work with a huge grin on his face.
Happiness to Jim was being on a horse. He would make himself available to move cattle. He also enjoyed bowling and spent many nights with friends at Hurricane Lanes. A highlight in his bowling career was when he was able to compete in Las Vegas for Nationals. Afterwards, he took a little side trip to California to visit family. Jim loved a good meal, whether at church, with friends or grabbing a quick bite on his way.
He had great faith and always trusted God to take care of him and provide for him. Jim’s faith was so strong, that he never seemed to worry about much. He was funny and very kind to all around him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Survivors include his siblings, Mike (Susan) Miller of Albany, Oregon, Bonnie Tomasovich of Battle Ground, Washington and Gail Kissinger of Bend, Oregon, nieces and nephews, Jessica, Cheri, Erin, Patrick, Michael, Daniele, Christopher, Samantha, Joseph and Jacob. He will be missed by special friends, Mark and Betty Jo Stiffney, his church family and his bowling family.
A Celebration of Life will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Mount View Assembly of God Church in Ten Sleep with Pastor Chuck Powell from the Ten Sleep Baptist Church officiating. Online condolences may be made at http://www.bryantfuneralhomeonline.com.
