In 1965, Air Force 1st Lt. Ray Krogman poses alongside his jet.

Worland is pulling out all of the stops to welcome home First Lieutenant Alva Ray Krogman of the Air Force who was lost over Laos in the Vietnam War 54 years ago.

On July 19 Krogman's remains will be flown into Billings, Montana. The Wyoming Patriot Guard Riders and local law enforcement will be escorting Krogman, with plans to depart the airport at 2 p.m. From there, the procession will be welcomed to Wyoming starting in Frannie at 3:15 p.m., Lovell at 4:05 p.m., Greybull at 4:40 p.m., Basin at 4:50 p.m., Manderson at 5 p.m. and plans are for the procession to arrive in Worland around 5:20 p.m. All times are estimates. To stay updated on the procession's location, follow Bryant Funeral Home on Facebook. The Northern Wyoming News will share the updates on its Facebook page as well.

Each town has its own law enforcement escort planned, and community members are welcomed and encouraged to line the streets and witness Krogman's arrival. In Worland, the procession can be best viewed on the route between Diesel Pickup Specialists and Bryant Funeral Home; heading south on North 10th Street then east on Big Horn Avenue.

July 21 has been proclaimed Alva R. Krogman Day by Worland Mayor James Gill in honor of Krogman's service and sacrifice. On that day, services will be held at the Worland Middle School Auditorium. Visitation begins at 9 a.m., where attendees can view Krogman's dress uniform in an open casket and pay their respects. At 11 a.m. Reverend Linda Anderson from St. Alban's Episcopal Church will begin the formal service.

Following the services, Krogman will be escorted north on 23rd Street and then turn west onto Big Horn Avenue, headed to Riverview Memorial Gardens, Krogman's final resting place.

Full military honors, including an Air Force flyover planned for noon will take place at Krogman's graveside.

The community is welcomed and encouraged to attend all services.
