WORLAND – The Washakie County Commissioners opened and accepted a bid for the Lower Nowood Road fencing project during their regular meeting on June 7.

Chairman Fred Frandson was absent.

The bids for the project originally opened in May, but after receiving a single bid from Fettig Enterprises out of the Ten Sleep area for $60,296, the commissioners rejected the bid as it was not within budget.

The commissioners removed the cattle guard from the project before seeking new bids. This time they received two bids — one from Rattlesnake Field Services for $40,270 and one from Fettig Enterprises for $18,872.

Reconvening after lunch, the commissioners accepted Fettig Enterprises’ bid for the project.

OTHER BUSINESS

The Washakie County Library Foundation board members Jonna Abel and Margaret Lungren, as well as Washakie County Library Director Karen Funk, met with the commissioners regarding a follow up on their sign that they ordered after meeting with the commissioners in January. The foundation had asked the commissioners about purchasing signage for the front of the Washakie County Library that is faded where the Ace Hardware sign used to be.

Tom Schmeltzer with maintenance had said during the January meeting that painting has not proven to be able to cover it. The commissioners had agreed to look into power-washing or sandblasting the façade and pricing some metal to go over it.

During Tuesday’s meeting, the Foundation members mentioned they were looking at black tile from King’s Carpet One. Schmeltzer told the foundation and the commissioners to give him another chance to try to paint over it. He had previously looked into the pricing on how much it would cost to reface the building and said it would range from $6,000-$7,000.

The commissioners agreed with Schmeltzer to hold off on the project.
