Serving the Big Horn Basin for over 100 years
Ronald Eugene Zimmer passed away on June 26, 2022 after a short battle with Cancer. During his battle, he handled it with courage, grace and kindness. He kept his sense of humor and showed gratitude to everyone around him.
Ron was born to Esther and Charles Zimmer on 3/2/1945 in Red Lodge, Montana.
Ron grew up in Hardin, MT, graduating in 1963, attended the Western Montana State and would later move to Worland in 1968. While serving in the Army Reserves from 1965-1971 he started his career with MDU in 1966. He would continue with MDU until his retirement as District Supervisor in 2003. He met Kaye Martin Horel on July 4, 1968, they married July 26, 1969 and later divorced. To this union brought sons, David, Steve and Rick. Family memories include many camping trips in the Big Horns, fishing and hunting. Sandy Tibbs entered Ron's life in 1992 and became his life partner. Whether it was having morning coffee, corvette runs or traveling, they enjoyed life.
Proceeding Ron in death are his parents, sister Carol and son Steve.
He is survived by his sons: David (Jennifer) Zimmer of Worland, Rick (Pam) Zimmer of Casper; grandchildren: Zach, Doug, Shawna, Kaylee and Chloe; great granddaughter: Wren; Sandy Tibbs; his faithful companions, Cody and Mikey; his longtime best friend, Mike Sinclair; brother-in-law Bob Schomer of Hardin, MT; several nephews and many friends.
Per Ron's request, there will not be a service, but family and friends will gather for Z's "One More" at the Legion Club in Worland on Saturday, August 6, 2022 @ 2:00pm for food, drinks and sharing of memories. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Ron's name to the American Legion Post#44 or Central Wyoming Hospice, 319 S. Wilson St., Casper WY 82601
