Fur Ball on Friday a fun way to help

If you are looking for a good time or to help a good cause, you can do both at the 13th Annual Worland Fur Ball coming up on Friday, April 21.

Deb Coronado, an organizer of the event, shared what the Fur Ball does to help the community and everything you need to know to make the most out of the event.

Coronado described the Fur Ball as a fundraising event for New Hope Humane Society, a local animal shelter that houses and provides care to animals that don't have homes. The Fur Ball will include dinner, drinks, auctions, raffles, games to play and will most definitely be a fun night.

She said that members of the community donate and make various items to auction off at the Fur-Ball, and that all funds raised will go toward providing for the animals at New Hope.

Edie Cliame, the director of New Hope Humane Society, said of the event "It's vital to us because that's extra money to be able to spend on our animals, whether it's food or medicine, or paying for spay and neuter operations. So, it's very important to us and I hope that lots of people will donate and come to the Fur Ball."

Doors will open Friday night at 5 p.m. at the Washakie County Fairgrounds, and dinner will be served at 6 p.m. Dinner will be catered by Wyo Got BBQ, and will feature a three-meat barbecue arrangement. There will also be a cash bar on site operated by Goose's Liquor, open from 5 to 8 p.m.

A silent auction will be happening throughout the event, and a live auction will begin after dinner. Auction items include a fire pit, a glider rocking chair, hand-crafted lamps, dessert, a half of beef and more. There will also be a raffle held with prizes including another half of beef and a 9mm Smith & Wesson pistol.

Coronado closed by saying "I'd like to give a shout-out to all the businesses that really help out with us through donations, as well as the people in the community who come and make things, donate things and come spend their money for our cause."

Tickets will not be sold at the door, but will be available from these businesses:

New Hope Humane Society, Tharp Veterinary Clinic, Larsen's Bicycles, Cloud Peak Veterinary Service and the Big Horn Co-op Farm Store.
