Donald L. Schneider Sr, Age 85 passed away March 1, 2023 in Clackamas, Oregon. He was born October 4, 1937 in Worland, Wyoming to Alexander and Ernastine (aka Edith) Schneider.
Don attended and graduated from Worland Public Schools in 1956, then attended a year at Casper College in Casper Wyoming, studying Engineering.
He married Virginia Baker in 1958 and had two children. Don worked as an Engineer and Surveyor for Wyoming Dept of Transportation. Moving to Oregon in 1963 they lived in The Dalles for a year while he worked for ODOT, then returned to Worland Wyoming and also returned to WYDOT working there until moving back to Oregon in 1974. Don eventually worked for Oregon Dept. of Transportation in Astoria, Oregon until retirement in 2000.
Don enjoyed being social, made friends easily through work, neighbors and hobbies, easy to laugh and made others laugh. He enjoyed helping others however he could.
Don enjoyed Camping with family and friends, fun on the Snow Mobiles, Fishing, Hunting, Golf, Bowling, Playing Pool, working on cars and computers and was a huge Motorcycle Enthusiast owning several over the course of his lifetime. He participated in a Motorcycle club and toured the Western United States and part of Canada.
Don and Virginia divorced in 1988. After a brief relationship with Sharon Snow, he met Cathy Dinges of Astoria, Oregon.
He is survived by two brothers & their spouses (Larry/Kathleen Schneider and Jim/Gladys Neeley), two sisters (Cathy Schneider Covert & Sandra Bristow), several nieces and nephews and his daughter & son-in-Law Doris/Cliff Rosson, as well as a grandson Guy S. Schneider and 1 great grandson Gaston Schneider.
He was preceded in death by his parents (Alex Schneider & Edith Bristow), step parents (Katherine Schneider / Richard Bristow), 3 brothers (Jerry Schneider, Bill Neeley, George Schneider) and his son, Donald Jr as well as his girlfriend of 20+ years Cathy Dinges (Astoria, OR).
