Worland homecoming next week

Worland High School is expecting a busy homecoming week Monday, Sept. 25 – Saturday, Sept. 30.

Students and community members can get ready for dress-up days, Tailgate Tuesday, the homecoming parade, and a handful of games to attend, according to Worland High School teacher and student council advisor Christy Vickers.

As usual, the week will feature a new dress-up theme for each day of spirit week. Monday will start off the week with beach bum and will move into duos day on Tuesday. Students can grab a friend and dress up as an iconic couple or “duo.” Wednesday’s theme is dress for movies or movie premier, meaning students can choose to either dress in pajamas as though they’re staying home for a movie night, or they can dress up fancy for a movie premier. On Thursday, the theme is Hippies vs. Cowboys, and finally Friday will end off the week with Warrior Wear.

COMMUNITY EVENTS

The community will have a chance to participate in homecoming activities by attending Tailgate Tuesday. This tailgate will take place Tuesday, Sept. 26 in the Worland Middle School parking lot from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Community members can gather here for music and vendors for the evening.

The annual homecoming parade will be on Friday, Sept. 29 at 1 p.m. on Big Horn Avenue, which will feature floats made by students, as well as the marching band. This will take place shortly after the pep assembly in the school gymnasium, when the homecoming royalty will be announced.

Throughout that afternoon, there will be volleyball and football games at the school. All teams will be playing the Rawlins Outlaws. The freshmen volleyball game will be at 3 p.m., the junior varsity game at 4 p.m., and the varsity game at 5 p.m. The freshman football game will be at 3:30 p.m. and the varsity football game will be at 7 p.m. Attendees can also see the marching band and “Burning of the W” during this game.

To end the week, the homecoming dance will be Saturday, Sept. 30 in the evening.

In addition to these events, students will be decorating their school hallways for a class competition and can also participate in a raffle fundraiser, as the school will be raffling off parking spots for students.

HALL OF FAME

The 2023 Hall of Fame class will also be inducted next week with a dinner at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 28. They will be in the parade and honored at halftime of the football game. Inductees are Lanny Bryant, Kristie Hill-Mortimer, Steve Mischke and Don Vail.
